Random Names Generator

Generate random names from a curated list. First name, last name, full name, or 'Last, First' format.

About Random Names Generator

Generate random first names, last names, or full-name combinations from a curated list of common English-language names. Useful for filling test fixtures, anonymizing real data, and producing realistic placeholder text. All names are fictional combinations — any resemblance to real people is coincidental.

When to use it

  • Producing test fixtures for user-facing UI
  • Generating placeholder content for design mocks
  • Anonymizing real names in screenshots or examples
  • Filling a database with realistic dummy data

How it works

First names and last names are independently drawn at random from curated lists (~60 first names and ~60 last names). The format selector controls how the two are combined.

Examples

Count=3, format=First Last
Penelope Walker
Noah Hernandez
Grace Patel

Frequently asked questions

Are these real people?
No. The first and last names are common ones, drawn independently and combined randomly. Any resemblance to real people is purely coincidental.
Are the names culturally diverse?
Partially — the list includes names from a variety of European, Asian, and Latin American backgrounds, but it's not exhaustive. For comprehensive locale-aware names, use a library like Faker.
